TONS more conference ideas!

sorry, yesterday really got away from me! so here i am back on track:)

i'm kind of on a crazy cleaning spree, i guess you would call it 'spring cleaning'! also planning a baby shower (more on that later). trying to check off all the things on my never-ending 'to-do' list (i've had some things on there since christmas!! cleaning out my inbox, cleaning out my filing cabinets, ordering our new family picture prints, kids dr appts, easter prep, general conference prep, garden planning, yard work, ya know, that kind of fun stuff:)

of course sugardoodle always has awesome conference packets and fun stuff!! i go there for sunday lesson helps as well!

lds.org has some great stuff for kids! conference notebook, games, activities, printables, coloring pages and more!

the chandler chronicles has a fun idea. she gave each child a bucket, and in each bucket there are baggies with dollar store prizes, and on each baggie there is a picture of an apostle. when that apostle speaks they get the prize. but they have to be present to get the prize! that will get them there, AND keep them there:)
way to go! love it!everyday

a little tipsy gives LOTS of great ideas for conference!

everyday food storage has a great conference kit, maybe for the sisters you visit teach or friends?!

favorite general conference recipes

these are some of my favorite, tried and true...

Caramel Pull Aparts

1 pkg. (about 24) frozen white rolls (i use Rhodes brand)
1 (3 oz) pkg. pudding mix (butterscotch or vanilla)
6 tbsp butter
3/4 tsp cinnamon
1/2 c brown sugar

Spray pan with cooking spray (a bundt pan works best, but i've substituted a pie dish or even 9x13). Place frozen rolls into pan. Sprinkle pudding mix over the frozen rolls.

Melt butter and add brown sugar and cinnamon together. Drizzle this mixture over the rolls and pudding.

Let rise overnight (cover with a lightweight towel) in refridgerator.

Bake the next morning at 350 degrees for 30 minutes. Turn pan upside down to remove from the pan.
Options: Double the butter, cinnamon and brown sugar for a more ooey gooey topping!

One Hour Cinnamon Rolls

Butterflake Orange Rolls

i have a recipe for these rolls made from scratch, and it involves a lot of complicated folding of the dough. but i found this must easier version here at just get off your butt and bake
try it and let me know that you think!

a neighbor/friend shared this recipe with us- sooo good!

Raspberry Whole Grain Breakfast Muffins

1 pkg Jiffy Muffin Mix-Oatmeal
1 pkg Jiffy Muffin Mix-Raspberry
2 tbsp (heaping) buckwheat flour
2 tbsp (heaping) whole wheat flour
2 tbsp golden flax seeds (whole)
2 eggs
1/2 c (plus a little more) milk
1/3-1/2 pkg frozen whole raspberries
sliced almonds
raw sugar crystals

Mix all the dry ingredients. Add eggs and milk until consistent. Add raspberries until uniformly spread throughout. Spray muffin tin with cooking spray. Fill muffin tins 1/2 full (i use an ice cream scoop). Sprinkle with nuts and sugar and bake at 395 degrees for 17-20 mins or until the muffin edges are light brown and the tops are spongy to the touch (not doughy)
Place oven on high broil for one (1) minute of less! just to toast the top and crystalize the sugar- WATCH or they will burn!
Let cool on a rack upside down. Enjoy!

these are our favs hope you enjoy these recipes! what are you favorite conference morning recipes?!

super cute bingo sheets from lds handouts. click here to download.

a mama b came up with this cute conference 'store' idea. every time her kids hear a 'keyword' they put a penny in their jar, then afterwards they get to go shopping!

janna writes about her awesome 'conference baggie' idea at sugardoodle. when the apostle on the front of the bag speaks, they get to open that bag and have a treat, prize or do an activity.

check out these 'treat buckets' from brown paper packages. fill these tin buckets with candy, and each time they hear a word on the front of the bucket, they get a treat!

gluesticks keeps these totes all year and just restocks them for each session of conference. i think it's genius!

the johnson family has some fun ways to celebrate conference!

gifts for general conference

i get so excited as general conference approaches! i love to sit at home, with my family, and listen to words of the prophet, apostles and general authorities! its such a spiritual feast, filling my personal reserve to be able to take on life's challenges! we usually make some yummy breakfast, then sit in our cozy clothes, watch and of course take notes like crazy:) the younger kids will play quietly, color or work on some kind of a conference packet. so... this week will be deemed 'preparing for conference' week on my blog! i will be posting all the fun ideas i find relating to conference ( recipes, packets, gifts etc!) so stayed tuned...

st. patrick's day

so this year was the first year that three of our four kids have really been old enough to enjoy fun traditions for holidays. they heard at school about leprechauns... so naturally i had to jump on wiki and brush up on st pattys day and those cute little creepy bearded men;)

so saturday morning, my kids woke up to this in the bathroom.... they loved it

leprechauns are mischievous little things... they turned our breakfast green!

and messed up the house...

so my kids set out to catch him! they know that anyone who catches a leprechaun is granted three wishes...so they left a trail of gold (that is what they're after you know!)

but alas... he escaped! but not without leaving a note and some treats to make up for the tricks he played on us...

but that's not all he left...we found these... leprechaun droppings! gross. he was totally taunting us

for dinner we had a delightful shamrock pizza (homemade. using rhodes wheat bread dough-found in the freezer section! awesome stuff)

and cream soda...

and it wouldn't be complete without green jello!

and my own personal pot of gold;)

happy st patty's day! hope your's was fun
